Abstract

Apollonian circle packings are examples of naturally occurring visual beauty in mathematics.  Inspired by the images and many mathematical entry points to this subject, we set out to create jewelry allowing mathematical enthusiasts and design junkies to sport the visual output of mathematicians in this area.  We are currently focused on earrings, as we have seen the community impact made by the earrings of Diana Davis.

We have made laser cut four models of earrings, each double sided.  Each photo shows the front and back of a pair of earrings.  Only the hoop model has identical faces.
